Honours even as drop rivals battle in the mud
WIGAN(0) v/s BOLTON(0)
WIGAN and Bolton remain embroiled in a relegation dogfight as the Lancashire rivals shared a rather predictable bore draw at a muddy DW Stadium.
The hosts had the better of the game on a horrendous surface, with Charles N’Zogbia coming closest the snatching the points with an effort which came off a post.
Hugo Rodallega also saw a headed chance fly wide and an overhead kick go over but no-one could find the breakthrough and prevent the Latics’ winless run stretching to seven matches.
Indeed, it could have got worse for the home side as midfielder Matty Taylor missed a hat-trick of chances for Bolton – the last of which being the best, a 10-yard shot on his favoured left foot which he dragged horribly wide.
It just about summed up a rather dire match, but the point could just be crucial for both of these sides as the relegation battle intensifies. Wigan stay 14th but Bolton move up a place to third-bottom.
