Hong Kong stock exchange trading shut down as Typhoon Haima lashes city
The Hong Kong stock exchange was forced to cancel trading on Friday as Typhoon Haima lashed the city.
The closure came after the Hong Kong Observatory issued a tropical cyclone warning signal number eight.
Several flights at Hong Kong's international airport were cancelled or delayed also.

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) said in an announcement that trading sessions in the securites and derivatives markets, including after-hours futures trading, had been cancelled due to the weather.
No securities clearing and settlement services will be provided for the day.
No Stock Connect northbound trading is available today.

The weather is a regular problem for the Hong Kong stock exchange, with several day closures announced in recent years.
In August, trading was halted as tropical storm Nida swept through the city.
