Hong Kong Racing Tips: Moreira’s mount should go back-to-back in six-furlong sprint
RECENT results may have gone against bettors in Hong Kong, but the locals will still be keen to support the favourites in the last three racs at Happy Valley, with the word ‘winner’ written all over them.
Jockey Zac Purton is associated with a couple of them, firstly Reliable Team in the Dordenma Handicap (2.45pm) and then Yee Cheong Baby in the closing Ivictory Handicap (3.50pm).
Reliable Team failed in his hat-trick attempt over six furlongs last month but now steps up to the extended mile.
His breeding suggests he’s been running over inadequate trips in his short HK career so far and this mile trip should be where he excels.
Although there are one or two promising types in opposition, he could outclass his rivals if on song, but his odds are going to be very short and better punting opportunities look elsewhere.
It’s a similar story with Yee Cheong Baby who went out like a light when seeking a hat-trick on the dirt last month.
A subsequent impressive trial hints he is back to his best though and he’ll be expected to resume winning ways.
He is another who will start at prohibitive odds however and instead it could be worth siding with LE TERROIR in the six-furlong Speed Vision Handicap (3.15pm).
The Joao Moreira-ridden four-year-old seeks to follow-up last month’s impressive track and trip victory, where having exploded to the front from the off, he dashed clear in the straight to win in impressive fashion.
That effort showed he is clearly physically stronger this season and from the inside draw, he is capable of not seeing another horse.
