Hong Kong Racing Tips: Conditions should suit Fa Fa
EXPECT umbrellas to be at the fore when a nine-race cards gets underway at Happy Valley on Wednesday.
Heavy rain and possible thunderstorms are predicted at the inner-city track, making finding winners difficult, especially with the majority of gallopers in the territory not used to racing on rain-softened turf.
One horse that won’t mind conditions whatever they are, is the Frankie Lor-trained FA FA, who seeks to compensate supporters for an expensive last-start defeat in the Robinson Handicap (2.15pm) over the extended mile.
This New Zealand bred gelding was desperately unlucky when coming from the clouds, but still needing one more stride, to catch rival Manna From Heaven over the course and distance last month.
On that occasion, after going back from an awkward draw, he was pushed widest turning into the straight, and despite producing an impressive closing sectional time, just came up short.
This time with an inside draw in his favour, he is mapped for a rails-hugging journey in midfield and should be ideally placed before the entrance to the straight.
Once pilot Vincent Ho presses the go button, his impressive finishing-kick should do the rest.
Principle threats range from the Joao Moreira-ridden Zhan Jiang Rocks, who has a good course and distance record, and the well-drawn Galactic, who used up too much petrol from a wide draw when fifth last month.
