Hong Kong Horse Racing Tips: Size to saddle Valley winners before unleashing his big guns
MASTER trainer and 10-time champion John Size has yet to hit the bullseye from his early flurry of runners this month, but expect that to change in the coming days.
Size sends out the heavy artillery from his stable at Sha Tin on Monday, with the likes of sprinting sensations Ivictory and Hot King Prawn, plus HK Derby winner Ping Hai Star all returning to the track.
Size, renowned for his patience and meticulous preparation, also has a couple of horses lined up at the Valley this afternoon, and both should be in prime condition after encouraging debut runs earlier this month.
COUNTRY STAR found everything happening too quickly when fourth over the sharp and tricky 5f track at the beginning of the month.
Given another trial to gain more race experience, you can guarantee he will line up a different horse in the 1.50pm over 6f.
From his low draw he looks set for a dream journey and will be hard to beat.
Half an hour later at 2.20pm, his stable companion RED WARRIOR contests the main race of the afternoon, the Hong Kong Country Club Challenge Trophy over the extended mile, and looks to have been earmarked for this contest.
Formerly known as Rusper, when a three-time winner over a mile for trainer Jamie Osborne, this son of Holy Roman Emperor warmed up for this event with an encouraging fourth, following a tough journey over 6f at the Valley three weeks back.
He looks better than his present handicap mark and now races over his optimum distance.
