Holborn fire still causing chaos a week on

Holborn businesses are still facing huge disruption a week on from the blaze that erupted from an underground tunnel, with power outages and road blocks still affecting the area. 

 

Kingsway, Southampton Row and the Strand underpass were still shut this morning as Camden Council continued to investigate the fire, . 

 

National Grid has been working “around the clock” and power has been restored to “all but one property” – but many local business people were still complaining this morning of the impact it was having on their companies.

More than 2,000 people were evacuated when the fire broke out last week, and the disruption continued into the evening with eight theatres cancelling their shows and a black-out of the area around Holborn.
