Hilton site is sold to co-owner
SHIRAZ BOGHANI, one of the co-founders of Splendid Hotel Group which was dissolved last year, has personally bought the site of the proposed Hilton Southwark hotel, one of the collapsed company’s two large unfinished projects.
The Hilton development and the InterContinental London Westminster hotel near Scotland Yard were put up for sale in September after a legal spat between Boghani and former Splendid co-owner Bashir Nathoo over the sale was settled in court.
Boghani is understood to be paying around £150m for the site, which he agreed to buy in February.
The five-star Hilton-managed hotel is set to open in the fourth quarter of 2013 and will boast 281 bedrooms, a ballroom and health and leisure club, stated CBRE Hotels, which was appointed to market the two developments.
Meanwhile the InterContinental London Westminster Hotel is scheduled to open before the end of 2012 and will comprise 256 bedrooms including 43 suites.
