Heron Tower snaps up its first tenant
HERON International has signed up international law firm McDermott Will & Emery as its first tenant in the Heron Tower, a person familiar with the situation confirmed to City A.M. yesterday.
McDermott has agreed to pay £55 per square foot for around 25,000 sq ft of office space on the eighth and ninth floors of the skyscraper.
Property tycoon Gerald Ronson’s firm is expected to complete the 46-storey tower in March 2011. It is already the tallest building in the City of London. Office space on the higher floors could command even bigger rents – some say around 10 per cent more – once tenants are secured.
“Heron isn’t even marketing higher up the building at the moment. They have only been marketing for three months, and very discreetly, and they are seeing considerable interest from around the world,” said a property source.
