Haye confirms his retirement
BRITAIN’S former heavyweight world champion David Haye has confirmed his retirement from boxing at the age of 31.
Haye, who previously unified the cruiserweight division, beat Russian Nikolay Valuev in 2009 to claim WBA heavyweight title, but was outclassed on his final ring appearance by Wladimir Klitschko in July.
The Londoner had been rumoured to be considering one final bout against Vitali Klitschko, but Haye claims he already has plans for a life away from boxing.
He said: “Too many fighters over the years have gone on way too long. Now’s a great time [to retire]. I want to go into acting.
“There are some things in the pipeline. I want to have the same success in my acting career as I did in my boxing career. I have been offered a few things but nothing concrete.”
