Guardian Media Group’s chief executive Andrew Miller to step down in June
Guardian Media Group chief executive Andrew Miller will step down in June after five years in the role, the publisher of The Guardian and The Observer newspapers announced yesterday.
Miller oversaw the Guardian’s heavy investments in digital which have made it one of the world’s most read online newspapers. He also raised £600m for the group via the sale of its stake in Trader Media.
The announcement comes a month after Alan Rusbridger, editor of the Guardian, also announced his departure from the group this summer.
“I have decided that mid-2015 will be the right time for me to explore new opportunities and for a new editor and chief executive to take the company on the next big phase of the Guardian’s digital growth and international expansion,” said Miller. A successor was not named yesterday but an executive search firm is due to be appointed this week.
