Great British Bake Off might have a new presenter
Crumbs. Those devastated by Mel Geidroyc and Sue Perkins' decision to ditch Great British Bake Off on the grounds of loyalty might just come around to the show's new direction if reports of the new presenter its production company has lined up are accurate.
The Sun has suggested Love Productions, the company which came under fire after it ditched the BBC for Channel 4, is lining up comedian Richard Ayoade to replace Mel and Sue when it moves to its new home.
Best known for his shows Gadget Man and Travel Man, as well as his turn as nerdy character Moss in the IT Crowd, Ayoade is said to be a "really popular choice".
Love Productions has been criticised after three of GBBO's four mainstays decided not to follow the show to Channel 4 when it moves next year.
Almost as soon as the deal was announced, Mel and Sue said they will stay with the BBC, adding that they were "shocked and saddened" by the move.
Several days later Mary Berry said she will also stay with the Beeb. In a statement she said: "My decision to stay with the BBC is out of loyalty to them, as they have nurtured me, and the show, that was a unique and brilliant format from day one.
"Farewell to soggy bottoms," she added.
