Grant set for West Ham job after leaving Pompey
AVRAM GRANT is expected to be named the new manager of West Ham in the next 24 hours after leaving Portsmouth last night.
The Israeli guided the cash-strapped, relegated club to the FA Cup final against his former club Chelsea last Saturday and admitted leaving Pompey was the “most difficult decision” he has had to take in his career.
As expected, Grant, 55, is now set to take over the reigns at Upton Park as successor to Gianfranco Zola, who left the Hammers last week.
Grant said: “After a lot of soul searching and under the circumstances I’m taking a different direction. I might be leaving Portsmouth physically, but you cannot take Portsmouth away from me and my heart.”
