Grand pix – Ecclestone and his Formula 1 pals to auction snaps
THE STARS of Formula One will be screeching into town this evening for Zoom, a charity auction at the InterContinental Park Lane. Proving their talents lie beyond the pits, they’ll be auctioning off signed photographs taken by themselves in aid of Great Ormond Street.
“Zoom gives a taste of what the lives of the F1 drivers and team principals are really like,” Bernie Ecclestone told The Capitalist.
“Each of them has taken a photograph of anything they wanted and they are views that no one else could get. They show the drivers’ pets, their toys and favourite places. There are even photos taken from the podium and the drivers’ parade before the race.”
Bernie himself hasn’t missed the opportunity to get behind the camera – the Formula 1 boss captured the view from one of his houses (pictured). “This is the view from my house in Gstaad in summer. I have had the house for 25 years. I like looking out the window over the hills and in winter it all gets covered with snow,” he said. And what a charming view it is – he certainly won’t get that looking out from the InterContinental.
