Graduate job market booming as jobless rate drops to 2007 levels
Graduates are finding it easier to find employment, figures published yesterday by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills reveal.
Meanwhile, those who complete post-graduate degrees are set to earn nearly twice as much on average as those who opt not to go university.
The employment rate for working age graduates was 87.5 per cent from January to March, its highest since 2007. Year-on-year, the unemployment rate among young graduates fell from 4.9 to 3.9 per cent, also the lowest since 2007.
The median salary for a graduate is now £31,200. This is down by £312 compared to the same period last year, but this figure is fairly volatile.
Meanwhile, the median salary for post-graduates is £39,000 while the median salary for non-graduates is £22,100.
