Gas and construction man Mark Clare joins United Utilities
The group chief executive of Barratt Developments Mark Clare is joining United Utilities, the UK's largest water company, as a non-executive member, said the water company today. (Release)
Clare, who has held his position at Barratt since 2006, was executive director of Centrica and managing director of the British Gas Residential Energy operation before moving to the home developers. He is also currently a trustee and director of the Building Research Establishment Trust and the UK Green Building Council.
United Utilities' chairman, Dr John McAdam said: "As a current Chief Executive of a FTSE 250 company and with his background in regulated utilities, Mark's appointment will strengthen the Board's expertise; we are delighted to welcome him to the Board as a non-executive director."
Clare's new appointment will come into effect on 1 November.
