G4S hires finance chief as its new boss gives interim report
TROUBLED security firm G4s has hired Himanshu Raja as chief financial officer ahead of new boss Ashley Almanza’s presentation of half-year results today.
Raja, who is quitting his role as CFO at Misys after only six months, has previously held senior roles at BT Group and Logica.
He is set to join as G4S on 7 October and will also serve as a member of the firms’s risk committee.
Almanza, who replaced Nick Buckles in May, will be in the spotlight today as he reveals how he plans to cut the firm’s £1.8bn debts and restore G4S’s reputation after its failure to adequately provide security staff at last year’s Olympics.
More recently, the group has been attacked by the Justice Secretary Chris Grayling over its alleged overcharging of the taxpayer for the provision of electronic tagging services.
Analysts have speculated G4S could announce a cash call or divestment of assets and Almanza said he was glad to have Raja’s help steering the finances.
“The realisation of the company’s potential will require strategic focus and improved execution and we will benefit from Himanshu’s considerable experience,” Almanza said yesterday.
