FTSE 100 index opens up on miners
The FTSE 100 opened slightly up this morning as miners made gains as trading began.
The UK's top blue-chip index was up 0.33 per cent at 6,358 points as the market opened.
Glencore led the pack higher, up 3.29 per cent to 93.6p on opening, while other miners including Antofagasta and Anglo American were also rising.

Antofagasta was up 1.78 per cent to 507.25p per share on opening, while Anglo American was seen rising 0.9 per cent to 421p per share. Antofagata and Fresnillo were up 3.04 per cent to 429p per share and 2.59 per cent to 511p per share respectively.
However, BHP Billiton fell 1.82 per cent to 839p per share and Randgold Resources fell 0.22 per cent to 4,057p per share.

Severn Trent, meanwhile, was up 1.79 per cent to 2,222p per share, after its first-half profit inched up and customer complaints fell.
Tesco's share price was up 1.84 per cent at 171p, on the back of news that it has agreed to pay $12m (£8m) to settle a US class action lawsuit brought against it over the £263m profits blackhole discovered last year.
