French infant school teacher lied about being stabbed in neck by suspect “invoking” Islamic State
An infant school teacher who claimed to have been stabbed in the neck this morning at a school in the north of Paris, by a man reportedly “invoking Islamic State”, has admitted to lying about the attack.
He had originally claimed the incident took place at 7:15 this morning, while the teacher was preparing the classroom for the start of the day, according to TF1.
However French prosecutors now believe he stabbed himself and then lied about the incident. The 45-year-old man was treated for neck wounds and has since been questioned over his claims.
It comes as France is still on high alert following last month’s attacks in the capital. The incident took place at Jean Perrin d’Aubervillers, in Seine Saint-Denis – the suburb in which police recently arrested suspects they believed were poised to target the business district La Defense. Two people died and seven arrested as part of the raid in November, following the terror attacks in which 130 people were killed.
