Frankel will go down as a true great, beams Cecil
TRAINER Henry Cecil has labelled his multiple Group One winner Frankel one of the greatest race horses of all time after the three-year-old romped to victory in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
Jockey Tom Queally (right) moved the 2,000 Guineas winner to the front straight out of the stalls and kept him there until the final furlong, before switching on the afterburners and surging further clear of Canford Cliffs.
“I thought he would win easily but didn’t want to say. I have too much respect for the others,” said Cecil. “I think Frankel is the best horse I’ve ever seen, with Blushing Groom and Shergar. I can’t really go further back than that as I wasn’t around.”
