Former Twitter chief executive Dick Costolo is “reimagining the path to personal fitness” with a new software platform he’s launching with Fitify’s Bryan Oki
Former chief executive of Twitter Dick Costolo revealed today he is starting a new company with Bryan Oki, the co-founder and chief exec of corporate fitness consulting firm Fitify.
He also said he was joining venture capital firm Index Partners, which has previously invested in companies such as SoundCloud, Etsy, and King Digital Entertainment.
He made the announcements on Twitter (where else?) six months after stepping down from the social media platform, where he was replaced by Jack Dorsey.
In his tweet, Costolo said: "We're building a software platform that reimagines the path to personal fitness. This platform will go beyond measurement to motivate and drive improvement and make the road to personal transformation fun and social."

The as yet unnamed business will offer access to personal trainers, coaches and nutritionists.
Costolo will be joining Index as a venture partner, "investing in entrepreneurs and working with existing portfolio companies to help them scale and grow their business", although he wouldn't say what types of companies he'll be specialising in.
He added that Index's Danny Rimer, who establish the firm's London office, was a good friend of his, and had introduced him to the Index team.
