Former British Gas director Michael Uzielli spends first day as Heathrow CFO
Former British Gas financial director Michael Uzielli has taken up the reins as chief financial officer of Heathrow, weeks before the Airports Commission announces its decision over a third runway for the airport.
Uzielli's appointment was announced in February. Before that he spent time working for British Airways and Schroders.
Taking over from José Leo, Uzielli has been tasked with making sure the airport is able to “exceed financial targets and secure the investment necessary to continue to transform passenger experience”.
Joh Holland-Kate, chief executive of Heathrow, said he was “delighted” by Michael's arrival. “I'm confident his breadth of experience will help us take Heathrow from being one of the best airpors in Europe to one of the best airports in the world.”
Uzielli's responsibilities include financial and investment strategies and management, tax, insurance, treasury and investor relations.
