Ford set for England call-up as Lancaster opts for young squad
FORMER world junior player of the year George Ford is set to be named in a new-look 35-man England squad today for the forthcoming Six Nations.
With France-bound fly-half Toby Flood set to be overlooked, the Bath No10 is in line for a first senior international call-up from coach Stuart Lancaster.
And Ford could be joined by up to six other new faces with several Red Rose regulars, including Alex Corbisiero and Manu Tuilagi, sidelined by injury.
Meanwhile, England chiefs the RFU welcomed the International Rugby Board’s decision to intervene in the row over the future of the European club game.
Teams remain in limbo amid doubts over whether the Heineken Cup, or a replacement competition, will go ahead next season.
