Football betting: Everton’s Roberto Martinez will need more than magic of the FA Cup to beat Manchester United
You would think that leading your team to Wembley for an FA Cup semi-final would be enough to have fans singing your praises across the terraces.
But Manchester United’s Louis van Gaal and Everton’s Roberto Martinez go into Saturday’s clash with supporters far more interested in their manager’s removal.
The two sides are accused of underperforming in the Premier League, and both bosses could well need to win the cup to stand any chance of retaining their jobs.
League form doesn’t always mean much when looking at the cup, as both the Toffees and United will know.
Everton beat Chelsea 2-0 at Goodison Park in a mightily impressive quarter-final victory in the previous round.
Romelu Lukaku scored twice to book a Wembley place for the Toffees who chase their first silverware since 1995.
However, Martinez’s men haven’t won a game since that scalp six weeks ago, and calls for the Spaniard’s head from the Goodison faithful have reached a crescendo.
They were almost deafening as Liverpool swept them aside 4-0 on Wednesday in the Merseyside derby.
Van Gaal’s United needed a replay to beat West Ham, but they at least come into this match in form.
A 3-0 reversal to title-chasing Tottenham is the only game they haven’t won in their last six in all competitions, and they are 21/20 with Betway to win tomorrow.
I back them to do it.
There is a toxic atmosphere around Everton at the moment and I can’t see them getting anything out of this match.
At just 18 years old, Marcus Rashford has revitalised United’s season. He’s scored seven goals in 13 games since breaking into the team and is a shoo-in to make his first Wembley appearance.
The teenager has played without fear since his debut just two months ago, and has put himself in contention for an unlikely Euro 2016 place.
Rashford aside, United haven’t been scoring many goals, with just 10 in their last 11.
However, with David de Gea in goal they don’t concede many either.
I suggest selling total goals at 2.45 with Sporting Index.
