SERPENTINE BAR & KITCHEN GOES FESTIVE
Hyde Park’s Serpentine Bar & Kitchen has opened a Christmas restaurant to coincide with the park’s Winter Wonderland. The restaurant, in its own festive marquee, will offer traditional English food and drink – hog roasts, stuffed guinea fowl and the like, with mulled wine, ciders and cask ales – from this Thursday until 23 December. Prices are from £35 per person, the venue is also available for parties. www.hydeparkwinterwonderland.com
PRISM GOES RELAXED
Leadenhall Street’s Prism is moving away from the world of fine dining to relaunch as a brasserie-style restaurant. The palatial venue (it’s in a former bank) has got a more relaxed look, and new head chef Daniel Sherlock has created a simpler, more rustic menu with dishes such as steamed purple sprouting broccoli with brown shrimp and caper butter, and roasted Cornish pollock with borlotti beans, chorizo, lemon chilli and parsley. WHITE TRUFFLES ON GALVIN MENU
After a customer asked Galvin at Windows chef Andre Garrett to develop a white truffle menu for his private party, the chef is now introducing it restaurant wide. Dishes on the Alba Truffle Menu – which you can order for your whole party – include seared scallops with crushed charlotte potatoes, salsify and white truffle emulsion; hand cut linguine, mushroom emulsion and Alba truffle; and baked Vacherin, apple, celery and white truffle.
