NEED TO KNOW | POTTERS BAR
Commuting: Potters Bar rail station is 20 minutes from Kings Cross by train and 34 minutes from Moorgate. It is also very well located at Junction 24 of the M25 and the southern end of the M1.
Schools: Cuffley School and The Wroxham School are both good primaries. Dame Alice Owen’s school is one of the top 60 state secondary schools in the country, but it is large with more than 1,400 pupils.
Crime: Generally safer than the national average.
Restaurants & Pubs: The Two Brewers in Northaw is a cosy village pub with a roaring open fire in winter, a sunny beer garden for the summer months and serves good food. What more could you want from a pub? In terms of restaurants, the town itself is a little lacking but Hardens recommends a number in nearby St Albans.
Parks & Leisure: For the sporty type, there’s plenty on offer including a scuba diving club and a golf course. North of the town, commuter belt suburbia turns into woods and fields.
