Focus on… Hammersmith: It’s Hammersmith time in London
HOMES in Hammersmith are increasing in value as young professionals and families compete for properties in the area.
Bordered by Shepherd’s Bush in the north and Fulham in the south, the west London area has found its housing stock in short supply in recent years, leading to an average of six applicants per property and a marked rise in house prices.
The demand for Hammersmith homes is hardly surprising with its transport links on the Hammersmith and City, Piccadilly, and District Lines.
There’s no need to go into central London for entertainment with top class venues such as the Hammersmith Apollo and the Lyric Theatre on your doorstep and the district is also home to a host of multinational companies such as Coca-Cola, Disney, L’Oreal, and the music app Shazam.
Laurie Kavanagh, sales manager at estate agents Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward, says: “Hammersmith has seen an incredible rise in property values over the last six months, with property growth having risen in excess of 15 per cent year on year.
“The area is popular among professionals who favour its close proximity to central London and it also appeals to families with young children who enjoy the lovely green open spaces like Ravenscourt Park. Furthermore, Hammersmith has a wide selection of cafes, local delis and first class state and independent schools.”
Henriette Redgrave, manager at Douglas & Gordon’s Hammersmith office, adds:
“Victorian two and four bedroom homes are constantly in demand.
“Hammersmith does tend to be very family orientated because of the excellent selection of primary and secondary schools which helps to keep its ‘villagey’ community feel. “
