Flybe to pull City flight to Dublin in May
REGIONAL airline Flybe is cutting flights between London City airport and Dublin from next month due to poor passenger numbers.
The company will suspend the route from 31 May onwards, following a recent review of the service.
Paul Simmons, the airline’s chief commercial officer, said that following a review of the route, its passenger numbers and profitability, the firm had “regretfully taken the decision to suspend the service”.
“Despite our competitive pricing structure, overall passenger numbers are below our projections and there are no signs of this situation changing, which has led to us taking this decision,” said Simmons.
He added: “Flybe has a disciplined approach to the routes it operates, which means we continually review our network to ensure that we offer the right choice of destinations for our customers.”
Flybe is in the middle of a turnaround plan, and is making efforts to reduce its cost base. In July 2014, it reported its first profit in four years and increased passenger numbers while adding 20 new regional routes for summer 2015.
