Fire alert in Canary Wharf tower One Canada Square leaves workers out in the cold
A fire alert meant hundreds of workers were evacuated from their offices at Canary Wharf building One Canada Square this morning.
Fire engines were called to the iconic skyscraper this morning after an alarm was mistakenly triggered, meaning hundreds of the building’s staff were stuck milling around outside.
A spokesperson from the London Fire Brigade said: “Engines were called out to Canary Wharf tower following an automatic fire alert.”
“Crews investigated the alert and left the scene shortly after 10:15am”.
Just as you'd expect in the financial district, workers didn’t let this phase them and used their smartphones to keep up to date with emails and trading.

Meanwhile, some on the top floor had it even worse, being left stranded in the building while alarms continued to cause headaches.
On floor 39 of One Canada Square and there's a fire alert. So stuck up here in the stratosphere while others are locked out the building!

Luckily for staff, they did manage to get back into the building (but not before missing the morning coffee break).
