Financial Conduct Authority chief exec Martin Wheatley says he’s leaving with “a sense of unfinished business”
Outgoing chief executive of the Financial Conduct Authority Martin Wheatley has said that he's “disappointed to be moving on and I do so with a sense of unfinished business”.
Wheatley was speaking at what will be his last annual public meeting with the financial regulator, following announcements that he will step down in September.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that he had been ousted by Chancellor George Osborne who said the government sought “different leadership” to take the FCA “to the next stage of its development.”
"There is still work to be done but I'm more convinced than ever that conduct is at the top of firms' agendas and is no longer an afterthought," Wheatley told the audience.
