Fashion retailer New Look to move 800 staff to new London headquarters at King’s Cross
New Look is moving 800 staff to new headquarters at King’s Cross after signing up for seven floors on the 67-acre regeneration site.
The fashion retailer, which was bought last year by South African billionaire Christo Wiese, has taken a lease for 123,000 square feet of space in building R7 on Handyside Street on the north-eastern part of the site. It is thought to be paying a rent of around £70 per sq ft.
The Duggan Morris-designed building, which is next door to the University of Arts, will have a total of 150,000 square feet of office space and also house an Everyman cinema, shops and restaurants when it completes in July next year.
New Look, which is currently based on Mortimer Street in west London, will join other firms including Louis Vuitton, Universal Music, Google and Havas relocating to King's Cross. In total there will be 3.4m sq ft net of office space on the site as well as 500,000 sq ft of retail space, 20 new streets and 1,900 homes.
Chief executive, Anders Kristiansen, said: “New Look is delighted to have secured this large space in the King’s Cross development for our London base from 2018, as we continue to successfully grow and recruit….This new building demonstrates our confidence in our future expansion plans and will provide a fantastic working environment for our creative and support teams.”
Colliers International acted for New Look while Savills and Cushman & Wakefield acted for the King’s Cross Central Limited Partnership.
