F1’s Ecclestone seeking deal
LAWYERS for Bernie Ecclestone yesterday held talks with German prosecutors in a bid to settle a bribery trial that threatens his grip on Formula One racing.
Ecclestone, 83, went on trial in Munich in April over allegations he bribed a former German banker as part of the sale of a major stake in the business eight years ago.
Billionaire Ecclestone, who denies wrongdoing, was reported to have offered to pay £20m to German state-owned bank BayernLB to help to settle the case.
