Expanded workforce helps push turnover up at Pimlico Plumbers
INDEPENDENT plumbing firm Pimlico Plumbers said a recruitment drive had helped push turnover up during the year to 31 May, but warned that the talent pool of skilled engineers is shrinking.
The London-based company saw a 25 per cent jump in sales in the year, up to £25m, which chief executive Charlie Mullins attributed to the group’s ability to service more jobs as a result of its larger workforce.
Pimlico Plumbers hired more than 20 additional engineers over the past 12 months, taking its total employee count to 270. Mullins said the firm is “quickly exhausting” the pool of talent, adding that it had to look “well beyond the borders of the M25 to find new people”.
He added: “The only way to service the growing demand is with an expanded workforce supported by an efficient business model.”
