Ex-Barclays boss Antony Jenkins is joining bitcoin wallet startup Blockchain
The former boss of Barclays, Antony Jenkins, is getting deeper into the world of fintech, joining the board of the largest bitcoin wallet startup in the world, Blockchain.
“Blockchain technology has the potential to reinvent the way we use money and contribute to a finance system that’s high quality, low cost, secure, fair and transparent,” said Jenkins
The former bank boss set up his own fintech startup, 10x Future Technologies last month, but is now bringing his expertise to the three-year-old company which now counts 10m users in 120 countries.

If anyone is sending, receiving or storing bitcoin, it's likely they are using Blockchain to do it. The London-based company is named after the underlying distributed ledger technology that supports bitcoin which is increasingly catching the interest of the finance world for use beyond digital currencies.
“A CEO of Antony’s calibre joining our board is a clear sign of where the financial future lies,” said Blockchain chief executive Peter Smith, who told City A.M. it's working on projects with large institutions. Many other startups have used the firm's infrastructure to build their own products.
“His experience will help Blockchain revolutionise the financial system as we know it and enable billions across the globe to have a better, more efficient and more secure, financial future.”
