Eurozone building dips
CONSTRUCTION output in the 16-nation eurozone fell by 1.1 per cent in September compared with the previous month, according to official statistics released yesterday.
In August, production in the sector rose by 0.1 percent in the eurozone, Eurostat, the official European statistics agency said.
Compared with a year ago, construction output dropped by eight per cent per cent in the single currency bloc.
In the 27-nation EU, construction output also dropped by 1.1 per cent in September, compared with the previous month and by 9.4 per cent year on year.
Among the member states for which data is available for September 2009, the highest increase was recorded in the Czech Republic, which saw construction output increase by 2.4 per cent.
The largest drop was in Slovenia, where construction output dropped by 10.4 per cent.
