Eurostar boosted by business passengers
Eurostar has said that a rise in business traveller numbers had helped to fuel a 12 per cent rise inn annual revenue in 2010.
Ticket sales rose to £760m from £675.5m the previous year.
Meanwhile passenger numbers also increased by three per cent to 9.5m, compared with 9.2m in 2009.
The rail group said more people were choosing to travel beyond Paris and Brussels to the South of France, Germany and the Netherlands.
The company said in a statement: “This uplift [in sales] is due to the continued recovery of the business market that has been a trend through the year as well as growth in the overall number of passengers choosing high-speed rail over plane for short-haul travel in Europe.”
