European big guns lie in wait for English sides
BAYERN Munich, Barcelona and Juventus are among the European superpowers English clubs will be hoping to avoid when the draws for the next rounds of European competition take place today.
Arsenal will be drawn against Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid, Barca or Bayern in the last 16 of the Champions League. Manchester City can get all but the latter, as well as Borussia Dortmund. As group winners, Chelsea and Manchester United are likely to face easier opposition, such as Olympiacos, Galatasaray or Zenit St Petersburg, but will hope to avoid AC Milan.
Tottenham are seeds in the draw for the Europa League’s last 32, meaning they avoid the likes of Napoli, Shakhtar Donetsk and Valencia, but can meet Juventus, Ajax or Porto. Swansea are unseeded. The draws start at 11am.
