EXPENSES: WHAT ARE YOU PAYING?
A survey of over 400 small to medium sized businesses owners reveals that despite the current economic climate, one in five (20 per cent) don’t know how much money they pay out in expenses every month. The research also shows that almost 40 per cent are “not confident” that their expense records allow them to claim for the tax reductions they are entitled to, suggesting some businesses are missing out on significant potential rebates in a tough economic climate.
A THIRD OF BUSINESS WOULD RELOCATE
More than a third (34 per cent) of UK small business owners would consider moving their company in order to reduce costs, according to a new study by Make It Cheaper and the Centre for Economic and Business Research (CEBR). But Jonathan Elliott managing director of Make It Cheaper, warns: “Small businesses considering relocation must take into account the significant disturbance to the business of such a major step, and decide whether it is really worth the trouble.”
