England hockey captain Kate Richardson-Walsh set to take on a new role in the City at EY

England and Great Britain hockey captain Kate Richardson-Walsh is to take on a new kind of challenge by joining a City consultancy.

The triple Olympian will be joining EY’s business development team based in London while at the same time training for the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Consultants EY have partnered with Athlete Career Transition – an organisation that helps professional athletes with the transition to new careers.

Richardson-Walsh has been the captain of England and GB hockey for the last 11 years and has represented England at four World Cups, four Commonwealth Games and seven European Championships – winning eleven medals across these tournaments.

She will be well prepared for life in the City and rush-hour Underground trains after leading the GB women’s hockey team to a bronze medal in the 2012 London Olympics, despite having broken her jaw earlier in the competition.

With regard to the new opportunity at EY, Richardson-Walsh said: “This encompasses everything I loved about being an international athlete and I looking forward to translating my leadership and teaming skills to the corporate world.”
