England are yet to reach their peak, insists new coach Amor
ENGLAND Sevens head coach Simon Amor believes the best is yet to come from his side, following their third place finish in the opening leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series in Australia.
Amor, who only took charge of England less than a month ago, oversaw wins against Spain and France on day one, before being beaten in their final Pool B match by South Africa.
Victory in the quarter-final against Fiji followed, before defeat to eventual winners New Zealand in their semi-final. However, a record 47-0 win over South Africa in the third place play-off has given Amor the belief his side can play to their full potential in Dubai next month.
“I was very pleased with what we did against what was in fairness a tired South Africa. We were ruthless and our mindset was good,” he said.
“It’s important to recognise that we’ve only just started working on a new style of playing for two weeks.
“We’ve focused on defence and haven’t really looked at our attacking game yet.”
