Eiffel Tower closed for second time, days after Paris attacks
The Eiffel Tower has been closed to the public for the second time, following the attacks in Paris last Friday.
The iconic building was closed for days following the attacks, in which 129 people died.
It reopened for just one day on Monday. It was also lit up in red, blue and white lights to represent the colours of the French tricolour flag.
But this morning spokeswoman Marthe Ozbolt confirmed that the tower had not been opened again this morning. Speaking to AP she gave no explanation as to why, although "alluded to the current situation in the city".
The website currently says: "La tour Eiffel est actuellement fermée au public".
In a statement, the company said the Eiffel Tower is currently closed to the public "despite the heavy security" being deployed externally and internally.
Management was making every effort to "minimise the closure of the monument", the statement added, thanking visitors for their "patience and understanding".
