EE set to cut 350 jobs
Mobile operator EE is planning to cut 350 jobs including its Hatfield headquarters as the firm looks to slim down its marketing, finance, legal and account management teams.
The move comes just days after reports that EE’s owners, Orange and Deutsche Telekom, are back in talks for either a float or sale of the business that could value it at up to £12bn.
“As part of our strategy to expand UK-based customer service teams and reach our goal of being number one for service, we need to make changes to our company structure,” said an EE spokesperson. “Consequently we’re proposing changes to some of our corporate functions. We appreciate this will be a difficult time for the staff affected and we will support them through this period in any way we can.”
Meanwhile EE chief executive Olaf Swantee is currently leading a drive to improve customer service by bringing back 1,000 call centre jobs to the UK by 2016.
