EasyJet to launch volcano claims suit
BUDGET airline easyJet is planning to launch a class action lawsuit to claim compensation for lost revenue during the Europe-wide flight ban.
EasyJet, which lost up to £75m during last month’s closure of European airspace is hoping to group together with a number of airlines to make a legal claim.
Chief executive Andy Harrison said the airline was already working on possible legal action with other carriers outside of the low-cost sector and argued that there was “no reason why the consequences must be borne by the airlines alone”.
EasyJet would not confirm which aviation authorities it plans to launch the action against because it is still working on the legal case.
The other airlines currently wish to remain anonymous.
