EasyJet flight U28435 from London to Basel declares emergency and returns to Gatwick
An EasyJet flight going from London to Basel in Switzerland declared an emergency as it took off from Gatwick.
Flight U28435 released a Squawk 7700, the generic emergency code, as it departed from the south London airport just after 2.30pm.
The journey spans a total distance of 425 miles, but the emergency squawk was made within a matter of miles from the point of take off.
The plane has now landed back at Gatwick, although the cause of the emergency is not yet known. Investigators are currently looking into the incident.
As a result, Ryanair flight FR2747 had to abort landing at the London airport.
