East 17, 5ive, Alesha Dixon and Sister Sledge have all pulled out of Leave.EU’s Brexit concert Bpoplive
It was meant to be a start-studded line-up of the hottest acts of 2016.
But then drum and bass due Sigma and singer Ella Eyre pulled out of Leave.EU's Bpoplive concert after finding out who was footing the bill, meaning the eurosceptic organisers put their heads together to find a solution.
"Have you seen the cancellation fee for the venue?" was the word from Leave.EU's Brian Monteith. Earlier this month he told The Capitalist that the show at Birmingham's Genting Arena must go on.
But Leave.EU just can't catch a break.
After announcing a new line-up for the event including '90s favourites East 17 and 5ive, Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon and soul group Sister Sledge, three quarters of the acts have pulled out – again, because of the event's political tone.
Alesha Dixon and 5ive cancelled their slots hours after the event, rescheduled for 19 June, was announced. Both claimed that Bpoplive had been misrepresented to them.
And late on Tuesday evening, East 17's manager told Digital Spy that the group famous for "Stay Another Day" would similarly not be playing.
Now, soul group Sister Sledge has also pulled out today.
Only one act remains – former Rose Royce singer Gwen Dickey.
Dickey told the Mirror she still plans to sing at the concert, but it will be all about the music for her.
