Door left open for Borthwick
RUGBY UNION: Martin Johnson yesterday hinted Steve Borthwick could once again captain England after refusing to confirm Lewis Moody would be his skipper through to next year’s World Cup.
Borthwick, who captained England for the first 20 Tests of Johnson’s reign, was replaced by Moody after he was ruled out of the summer tour of Australia with a knee problem.
“I will not commit to (Moody being captain until the World Cup),” said Johnson. “It is very competitive. Anyone who thinks they are comfortable in the England 32 won’t be there for very long.”
