This Thanksgiving, President Donald Trump is thankful for himself
US President Donald Trump has said that this Thanksgiving, he is thankful for himself.
Asked by a reporter what he is most thankful for, Trump said in an interview that he was thankful for his family before going on to praise himself and the "tremendous difference" he said he has made to the US in the last two years.
He proceeded to talk about the impact he has had on the country and the economy on a global stage.
"I've made a tremendous difference in the country," he said in a video posted by The Hill. "This country is so much stronger now than it was when I took office and you wouldn't believe it.
"I mean, you see it, but [it's] so much stronger that people can't even believe it.
"When I see foreign leaders they say: 'We cannot believe the difference in strength between the United States now and the United States two years ago'.
"We've made a lot of progress."
The president also congratulate the military, while congratulating himself, telling officers that the country and their families were doing well on his watch.
“I hope that you’ll take solace in knowing that all of the American families you hold so close to your heart are all doing well,” he said. “The nation’s doing well economically, better than anybody in the world.”
He also told reporters: “Nobody’s done more for the military than me.”
It was in stark contrast to a scripted message he shared on Twitter, in which he thanked public services, the military abroad and prayed for the families affected by "catastrophic storms and devastating wildfires".
