Donald Trump plans to drop fellow dove Janet Yellen… because of her political views (not monetary policies)

Donald Trump has said he will ditch Fed Reserve boss Janet Yellen "when her time is up".

The Presidential candidate, who this week became the presumptive Republican candidate after his rivals dropped out of the race, has indicted he would not reinstate Yellen when her current contract ends in February 2018.

In typical Trump fashion, he praised her before tearing her down – while simultaneously admitting he didn't know her.

The Republican candidate told CNBC:

I have nothing against Janet Yellen whatsoever. She’s been doing her job, and I have absolutely nothing against her.

I don’t know her, but she’s a very capable person and people that I know have a very high regard for her.

In fact it seems that, rather than her monetary policies, it's her political leanings that could get Yellen dropped:

She’s not a Republican… When her time is up, I would most likely replace her because of the fact that it would be appropriate.

Trump's meandering statement even acknowledged that he actually approves of her doveishness – and that he was similarly minded.

She’s a low interest-rate person, she’s always been a low interest-rate person …and I must be honest, I’m a low interest rate person. If we raise interest rates, and the dollar starts getting too strong, we’re going to have some very major problems.

But apparently this dove is not bringing the olive branch to the party.

Illogical? Most certainly. But no more illogical than the rest of his campaign so far. Mexico is still not planning to pay for the building of a wall between the two countries and, according to this article, his deportation plans could actually make America less great again, by slicing two per cent off US GDP.
