Donald Trump Halloween wigs have sold out
PRESIDENTIAL wannabe Donald Trump may have fallen in the opinion polls, but there is one place where his star is still rising – which is mainly down to his famous hair.
It seems US shoppers are tapping up Trump for Halloween inspiration, with retailers reporting that wigs inspired by the businessman, Apprentice host and potential future US President’s idiosyncratic style are already a sellout.
“We’ve sold more Trump wigs than ever before,” said maxwigs.com president Ray Lenci of its $29 Donald Trump Deluxe wig, speaking to MarketWatch. So in demand is the buoyant bouffant that customers are demanding rush shipping and the style already needs to be restocked.
The same goes for halloweencostumes.com and voguewigs.com, which are both having to restock the wigs over a month ahead of the usual Halloween shopping schedule.
Trump’s Halloween costume may come as no surprise to some. The business magnate, worth approximately $4bn (£26.4bn) has been trading some heavy blows with fellow right-wing candidates in the run up to the US General Election.
Trump has been called every Halloween-themed name under the sun this week. Yesterday, republican rival and Florida senator Marco Rubio branded the presidential hopeful a “freak show” following a series of back-and-forth insults. Meanwhile, libertarian Kentucky senator Rand Paul decided that Trump looked more like a scary “clown”.
If you’re looking for a hair-raising Halloween costume, you’d better order soon… Or there will be hell toupé.
