DMGT boss Martin Morgan is stepping down at the end of 2016
The boss of the Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT) has announced he is leaving the publishing group at the end of the 2016, after eight years in charge.
Martin Morgan, who joined the group in 1989, said he will spend the year executing 2016 priorities, Under his tenure, the website of the Daily Mail newspaper MailOnline has become the biggest news website in the world.
Chairman Lord Rothermere said: "Martin will continue to provide strong leadership for the group, as he has done so successfully in the last seven years as chief executive. We have set strategic priorities for 2016 which will position the group to address the next phase of its development."
The search will begin for a successor.
"We believe that this provides an opportunity for the new management to have a more thorough review of their current assets," said Liberum analyst Ian Whittaker, including looking at a buyout of the remaining stake of Euromoney it does not already own.
"Also the potential sale of non-core assets such as its events business and potentially spinning out the MailOnline business in a similar way to what they did with Zoopla," he added.
Morgan will remain a non-executive director of Euromoney.
