Djokovic seals Beijing gong
WORLD No1 Novak Djokovic admitted the performance which sealed his fifth China Open title far outstrips any other in his glittering career after demolishing Czech rival Tomas Berdych in little over an hour in Beijing yesterday.
The 27-year-old reigning Wimbledon champion brushed aside Berdych 6-0, 6-2 to record his 24th consecutive China Open match success and maintain his record of never losing in the Chinese capital.
Serbia’s Djokovic was in swashbuckling form, winning 11 games in a row at one stage, firing 19 winners and taking six of the eight break points on offer.
“It was probably my best performance in all the finals in my career,” said Djokovic. “It was incredible. Everything I tried worked. To be proud of the performance is the least I can say of how I played.”
